About this tool
Make the result useful—not just precise-looking
Create deterministic working SKUs from one item name per line. Choose a prefix, separator, and numbering rule; duplicate base codes receive a sequence so every output remains unique.
How to use it
- Paste one product or variant name per line.
- Choose a prefix, separator, and optional numbering.
- Generate, review, copy, or download the CSV.
Useful for
- Preparing products for a first catalog import
- Standardizing a supplier list
- Creating readable internal variant identifiers
Assumptions
- Names are uppercased and non-alphanumeric runs become the chosen separator.
- Accents are transliterated where the browser supports Unicode normalization.
- Duplicate bases receive a numeric suffix.
Limitations
- Generated SKUs are not checked against your existing systems.
- Very similar names can intentionally collapse to the same base and then be sequenced.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Will this overwrite existing SKUs?
No. The tool only generates text in your browser. It cannot access or change a commerce platform.
Are outputs guaranteed globally unique?
They are unique within the current generated list, not across systems or prior runs.
Can I preserve lowercase?
No. This generator intentionally uses uppercase for a consistent operational format.
